Bremen Teater HD96 Install
Project Overview
The Bremen Teater in central Copenhagen, Denmark, embarked on a project to upgrade its audio system to enhance versatility and reliability for its diverse range of events, from comedy shows to rock concerts and lectures to cinema screenings.
Venue Information
The Bremen Teater in central Copenhagen, Denmark seats 650 people and is used as a venue for everything from comedy shows and concerts to theatre and talks. For some time, the theatre hosted the sketch show “Live Fra Bremen” and talk show “ALOHA!” which were both aired on TV2 and it has for several years been selected as the venue for established award shows, hosting events such as Steppeulven and GAFFA Awards.
In 2012, Bremen opened a bar called Natbar which won the reputable Politiken “Ibyen Award 2012” for bar of the year, Natbar has since established itself as a significant part of Copenhagen night life.
Bremen Teater attracts a mixed audience due to its varied programme offerings.
Audio Challenges
Bremen Teater hosts various production styles and shows seven days a week, they faced a challenge of being able to manage such a varied schedule whilst ensuring a seamless operation. They sometimes must support guest productions with their own lighting and sound setups too, which requires a flexible audio solution to integrate with the existing infrastructure.
The Solution
Bremen Teater worked with Matrix Sales to find a solution to the challenges faced, Claus Pederson from Matrix Sales led the integration design, collaborating closely with Mikael Flensborg, the chief engineer at Bremen Teater.
They realised it was time for a new mixer, they decided that the centrepiece would be the Midas HD96 as it is very versatile, they based this decision on extensive research. Bremen Teater was used to having excellent preamps, so that was also a requirement for the new set up to meet the venues high standards, The DL251 and DL155 stage boxes provided reliable I/O on stage, reducing the need for additional processing compared to the previous setup.

Feedback
The transition to the HD96 console brought concerns about workflow changes, Bremen Teater were used to having a lot of faders on their old setup, so they had a concern that when switching over to the HD96 that they would miss those but found very quickly how easy it was to set up the POP groups, so after the learning curve in regards to workflow, everything started making sense very quickly, the customizable start master-show file eased the transition. The versatility of the console’s processing capabilities allowed engineers to adopt various mixing philosophies while consistently achieving high-quality sound.

The integration of Music Tribe products at Bremen Teater has resulted in a versatile and reliable audio system that meets the demands of a diverse range of productions. With seamless integration and intuitive workflow, the venue can continue to deliver exceptional experiences to its audiences across various events.

System Configuration
The HD96 console was installed at the front of house (FOH) with dual CAT5A connections to the stage via the AS80 for redundancy. From the AS80, a single Cat6 connection led to the DN9680, which then connected to two stage boxes using three CAT5A cables.

The centrepiece of the upgrade, this digital mixing system boasts 144 input channels and 120 mix buses at a 96 kHz sample rate. Known for its legendary preamps, the HD96 offers innovative features for easy setup and powerful routing, contributing to a seamless experience for both in-house and visiting sound engineers.
DL251
The Midas DL251 is a digital stage box with 48 microphone lines and 16 XLR outputs. This allows multiple audio signals to be sent down one cable, letting sound technicians to efficiently hook up several bits of equipment together in the venue.
DL155
The Midas DL155 is a digital stage box with 8 award-winning Midas microphone preamplifiers, 8-line level outputs and an 8-channel digital AES3 interface, it is the ideal partner to all Midas PRO digital consoles enabling a digital snake connection from FOH to Stage.
AS80
The Midas AS 80 is designed to seamlessly convert a single, high-bitrate HyperMac connection into two redundant 1GBit connections and vice versa, whilst ensuring ultra-fast audio switching. Additionally, it can also run up to 192 bidirectional channels at 96 kHz.
DN9680
The Klark Teknik DN9680 is a digital network bridge designed for use alongside all Midas PRO setups. Its primary function is to convert audio signals between different digital formats and transport them over a network.
