Software giant Infosys joins the Midas XL8 club
Bangalore, India-based Acoustic Control recently installed India’s first Midas XL8 console at software giant Infosys' new auditorium, situated at its sprawling, state-of-the-art Bangalore campus. Founded in 1981, Infosys is a global leader in the next generation of IT and consulting, with revenues of more than $4 billion.
Infosys has more than 50 offices, 103,000 employees, and development centers in India, China, Australia, the Czech Republic, Poland, the UK, Canada, and Japan. The Midas XL8 provided a suitably prestigious finishing touch to the company’s new auditorium, being the digital flagship mixing console from one of the live sound production industry’s most respected brands. The addition of the XL8 means the facility is equipped to host a wide variety of acts and events, satisfying the most demanding technical riders. The XL8 system is installed as follows:
- 1 x XL8-5BCC five-bay control center
- 5 x XL8 I/O box (DL451).
- 3 x DL451 I/O boxes at FOH (one configured with a single digital card and two analog input cards, for a total analog input count of 16; the second and third configured with two analog output cards and one digital I/O, bringing the count of analog outputs at FOH to 32 and an additional 16 digital I/Os)
- 2 x DL451 I/O boxes on stage, both fitted with two analog output cards and one digital I/O card (32 outputs at stage)
- 4 x XL8 stage box (DL431) (96 analog inputs at stage)
- 10 x XL8 DSP units (DL471) 2 x XL8 router units (DL461)
- 1 x DN9331 Klark Teknik Helix Rapide
The XL8 will be used for events ranging from simple four-microphone conferences to orchestral performances. The console will also be used by in-house bands, all of whom are thrilled to be using the same mixing console as the likes of Aerosmith and Metallica. The flexibility of the XL8 is already producing results for Infosys; at a recent political debate at the auditorium it took mere seconds to configure audio feeds to every TV camera crew in attendance. Sanjay Mudartha, Director, Acoustic Control comments:
“The best feature of the console is the POP groups. The channels you want come to you. Engineers don't have to go looking for them in multiple layers. Fifteen minutes into the gig you forget that you are mixing on a digital console and you’re quite at home. I think that this is what separates Midas from the rest of the pack. Their onboard dynamics and EQs are exemplary; they leave you wanting nothing more.”
