Takamatsu’s Olive Hall launches a project with MIDAS sound

Takamatsu, the capital of Japan’s Kagawa Prefecture, is home to more than 420,000 people, but despite its standing as one of Japan’s 39 core cities and the largest metropolis on Shikoku island, Takamatsu has yet to earn a reputation as a destination for live music in Japan. Ritsurin Park and Sanuki Udon wheat-flour noodles remain the city’s biggest attractions, while Takamatsu’s music followers continue to look elsewhere for live entertainment. But the staff at Takamatsu’s Olive Hall have embarked upon a project that they hope will establish Takamatsu as the place to visit for live music in Kagawa. The venue’s recent purchase of a Midas Heritage 2000 console marks its first step on its journey towards becoming a centre of musical excellence.

The Midas Heritage 2000 offers all the superb audio performance and automation features of the Heritage 3000 in a package that is entirely dedicated to Front of House duties. It can be used in a variety of applications from large rock concerts, conferences to outside broadcasts. The Heritage 2000 also employs Midas’ unique Spatial Imaging System (SIS) with LRC panning with an image width control.

Despite the Heritage 2000 being an analogue console in an increasingly digital world, the staff at Olive Hall chose their console because they believed that excellent sound was essential for their business, and that their audiences deserve to hear the best. Countless tour operators also frequent Olive Hall, and having a reliable, high-performance Heritage 2000 for everyone to use was also very important selling point. Olive Hall carefully went through every product and concluded that the Midas sound was the best of all.

To help make their decisions, Olive Hall employed the services of Life Total Staging Production Inc., a partner company of EVI Audio Japan. Life Total Staging is a well-established PA corporation in the Shikoku Region with a reputation for experience and high-quality engineering.

Olive Hall was immediately impressed by the quality of their new Midas sound, along with general performance, operability and flexibility of their new Heritage 2000 console. The staff plan to use their versatile console not only for live music, but also for a variety of other applications including exhibitions, fashion shows and company conferences. Hopes are that with Midas forming the foundation of their high-performance system, it will not be long before Olive Hall becomes a leader in the burgeoning Takamatsu music scene and the place to go for the best music in Kagawa.
