BRITANNIA ROW PRODUCTIONS INVESTS IN FOUR FURTHER MIDAS H3000S

Britannia Row Productions has invested in four new Midas Heritage 3000 consoles, purchased from UK distributor Shuttlesound.

The purchase comes at a time when Midas’ digital XL8 Live Performance System is being taken up enthusiastically, and clearly demonstrates a parallel and ongoing demand for the company’s classic analogue mixing consoles.

“The use of digital is of course huge, and most of our shows go out with digital consoles, but we have customers who require analogue consoles for a whole host of reasons: they like the sound of analogue; they prefer to use analogue; some shows and events are so 'unscripted' that using an analogue console is the best solution; and sometimes engineers just want a change,” comments Britrow’s Mike Lowe, going on to provide a little anecdotal evidence: “Last year, a friend of mine asked for an analogue console for a project after using digital consoles for many years. He said that although mixing on digital consoles had been the best option for the shows he had worked on in recent years, he had become a little bored with 'mixing by numbers', and that he had an opportunity with this particular show to mix more intuitively and 'on the fly'. He was looking forward to the adrenaline rush!”

Britrow prides itself on meeting customer requirements and providing solutions to audio problems by supplying current and reliable equipment. “Hence the purchase of these analogue consoles to meet their demands,” continues Lowe. The Midas Heritage 3000 is the only and best game in town when it comes to quality large-format live mixing consoles.”

Present and forthcoming Britrow tours using Midas Heritage 3000s include Razorlight, Kings of Leon, Groove Armada and Robert Plant. The new consoles are scheduled for many multi-band bills over the summer starting with One Big Weekend for the BBC in early June.

“I think that Britannia Row Productions has the largest stock of digital mixing consoles and systems of all of the UK touring companies, but I also believe that the use of analogue consoles will continue for the next few years at least,” concludes Lowe. “Their use will also be for the right reasons – for their sonic quality, and because they can be the best tool to meet some of our clients’ particular needs.”
