THE FIVE GREAT GUITARS AND ONE MIDAS XL8
Dutch rental company Hof Audio supplied the XL8 for its debut performance in the Netherlands with the artists “The Five Great Guitars” and “Groove Masters XL”. Larry Carlton, the American guitar icon, joined band members Jan Kuiper, Harry Sacksioni, Erwin Java, Zoumana Diarra, Digmon Roovers from “The Five Great Guitars” on stage as a special guest for their recent performances at the Music House Frits Philips, Eindhoven and the Theatre Oosterpoort, Groningen.
Front of House engineer Auke Meijer’s summed the latest Midas as: “ in one word the XL8 is unique”. He went on to say; “Everything works and feels very similar to an XL4 but with hardly any system noise and with much, much better handling. This XL8 system is so easy to use and the internal effects are stunning"
When ask about what he regards as an important characteristic of the XL8 Meijier said; "the mix was an easy one with the XL8 and I could even overdrive the pre amps, like we sometimes do with analogue consoles, which is in the digital domain unique!"
Midas Consoles Holland, who supplied the XL8 to Hof Audio, provided a system tech to help support these first shows, however he spent his time explaining the XL8 system to all the venues curious house engineers, leaving Meijer to mix the shows.
